Brussels in Bloom

I am quite sure some of you have come across this, or already know about it, but I just saw this for the first time and thought it was stunning! A 300 square meter carpet made out of begonias! The web site said it "is based on a traditional medieval design".

"Craftsmen arrange the carpet by hand, directly onto the square’s cobblestones, without any soil. Grass and tree bark were also used to provide colour."

"The first Carpet of Flowers was created in 1971 as a way to promote begonias. Each square metre of ground contains more than 300 flowers."

this is stunning -- so glad I took a break from the packing to come and have a look. Wouldn't it be great if we could all have gardens like this?
