Baggage

Baggage. Not the most pleasant thing. And no, I am not talking about the kind of baggage you take on a plane with you while on vacation. I'm talking about the baggage that accumulates over time in our lives, depending on what we go through. Some of you may or may not be familiar with the show, How I Met Your Mother, but one of the episodes in the last season got me thinking. Amongst the hilarity that the show is, there were some serious tones in it that could actually make one think. Like baggage. Everyone has it.

It doesn't start out as much, and hopefully most people don't have to add to it.

But, we can sure try packing it all in...

We sometimes live in our baggage, becoming afraid and insecure of things.
We try to push it aside. Give it that lived in look. Make it look part of the decor.

We may try to make it look pretty.

But, it is always there, even deep down.

We somehow let it stack up. Become bigger as we go through certain relationships...friendships...

But, it all shouldn't matter when we find that special someone who is willing to come alongside of us, look past our hangups, and actually pick up our baggage and help carry the load. Over time it will become lighter.

Or we cling to our baggage so much that we refuse to allow someone else to help us carry it. This post is so so beautiful and true.

This post gave me the chills. It's so true, that baggage becomes lighter when you have someone to help you carry it! I love How I Met Your Mother, but I can't remember that episode.

I love that show (and I love Rules of Engagement, too!). Yep, we all have it, that's why we have friends we can trust to help us carry it and lighten our load! Gorgeous pictures!

Baggage is definitely part of living life, isn't it? I feel like if you don't have it (or are in denial), you must not be living life.

Great post!

I haven't seen it so I don't know... but it's true, we all have it and we could all do without it!

So true! such a great post.. Definitely ideal to put that baggage down or until we can put it down, to have someone who helps us carry the load like you said. And it's SUCH a blessing to find a significant other (or friend or family member) who helps us along in that way.. it can make all the difference!

This post was lovely. I loved how you incorporated the pictures and the theory. All the things you said were true and so real to me. Great Great post!!

Perhaps this is why I keep moving - always trying to leave some baggage behind... If our internal baggage just was as beautiful as your pictures. xoxo

I love this...especially the last part. And you selected wonderful photos to go along with the post.

Not everyone has LV - in fact very few of us - and if we think we have zero...well that's just not possible now, is it?

This was perfect for Monday!

Carrie

Sigh... baggage is heavy! I definitely think once you have someone who's right to share it with, the load just gets so much lighter!

Love this post! It's so true. If we could just learn to drop it, like a ball. In truth, we're so attached to it, lifelong practice of presence to detach ourselves a little, isn't it?

Reminders like this are really so perfect....

This post was pure perfection. Just so incredibly thoughtful!

I love this post! Powerful message told with fantastic images. Kind of makes me a little sad too, being single. No one to help with the load. But then again, no one to add to the load either. ;)

These are amazing baggage photos! Everyone one of them is so very pretty! My favorite is the first photo...so sweet!

What comes to my mind when I view this is: Our church did a little skit about baggage once. They brought a suitcase full of rocks. It showed us how we give some of those rocks to God, but then we keep going back to pick up those rocks again to put back in our bags. When all along God would like us to unload all of that "baggage" (rocks) over to Him to take the weight off our shoulders, if we would just allow Him to do that! :)

Everyone does have baggage and everyone continues to accumulate it over time...
Your post got me thinking: is baggage always a negative thing? Can baggage be positive - say lessons learned or being cautious about things/people?

As always, the photographs are GORGEOUS!

Oh dearest,
This is just part of life, we all have baggage. Some suitcases are uglier than others, but when we have the right friends, they look past the things we are not proud of and they see the good, accepting us for who we are...and loving us unconditionally.
Another insightful and beautiful post...Well done...xoxox...Rosie

Oh my dear we all have baggage...some suitcases are most definitely uglier than others...But, when we have the right friends, they look past the "not so pretty" and accept us for who we are, loving us unconditionally. In time, what's contained in those bags, no longer seems quite so important.
Another insightful post by a very wise young lady...well done dearest...Now go forth and S*M*I*L*E
