Snow Globe DIY

On a recent trip to Anthropologie, I came across these cute snow globes they had! I always love seeing how the store is decorated, oftentimes with every day items that create unique works of art throughout the store. So when I saw these snow globes, I actually thought they were just for decoration, then I picked it up and saw the price tag. That's when I knew I could just make my own!

The supplies:

Jar, little trees, glue, glue gun, glitter, paint brush, quilt batting (for snow. This is just what I had on hand. Any kind of fake snow would be great!)

I used the paint brush to add glue on the trees, then sprinkled them with glitter. I used a glue gun to attach the trees and snow to the lid. I had these cute little poinsettias that I thought would be a nice little touch. The possibilities are endless!

The result:

For the size I made, it would have cost $25 at Anthropologie. Some cost even more. So, $25 Anthro or $5 DIY?

When it comes to painting, I love playing with different colors...seeing what matches, what will blend well together, and how different shapes and patterns of color can make up a piece of artwork.

Vivid colors are all around us in the most ordinary of things. Take notice of small things around you...they might be the most inspiring.

Wishlist

Happy Thursday everyone! Tomorrow I am off for a day trip. I am very excited for it, but I am not so sure I will be able to post since I will be leaving early. So for now, I thought I would share some things that are on my wishlist!

Aren't these lawn chairs from Anthropologie great?! They are so whimsical. They make me think of Alice in Wonderland. What a cheerful way to brighten up the backyard.

I am in love with Voluspa's newest collection, Maison Blanc. My favorite scents, Pink Citron (above) and Macaron (below). Pink Citron "is a ripe citron grapefruit with a juicy pink center, layered with tart cassis and a heart of subtle rose." Macaron "is delicious and colorful, with the scent of Macarons de Paris."

4. One of my favorite animals are hamsters. I think they are adorable.
5. When I get a new issue of my favorite magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, I go through each and every page in order. I don't like to skip around!
6. I get cold way too easily. Even though it is so hot here, if I am in an air conditioned house, I will more than likely get a blanket at some point if I am sitting around.
7. I love looking at houses and buildings. I am fascinated by how structures like these are built.
8. I wash my car instead of going to a car wash to do it.
9. I generally get so annoyed by it, but I watch True Beauty.
11. I have quite a big sweet tooth. So much so, this award makes me want something sweet!
