everything you do leaves a mark

I just received an email about one amazing artist, Dalton Ghetti, who is a pencil lead sculptor. It truly is incredible to see these tiny sculptures made from the lead of a pencil! And at the end of the email, it applied lessons that we can learn from these pencils...

"A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS JUST BEFORE PUTTING IT IN THE BOX :

1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK .

2.) YOU CAN ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE.

3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU.

4.) IN LIFE , YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENINGS, WHICH WILL ONLY MAKE YOU BETTER.

5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.

We all need to be constantly sharpened. This parable may encourage you to know that you are a special person, with unique God-given talents and abilities. Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish. Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what's inside of you and then allow yourself to be guided by the hand of God."

I hope you could find inspiration in these words.
Remember, you can always correct the mistakes that you make.

Oh Shawna...I had seen this artist once a while back and was amazed. But your presentation today and this fabulous analogy (did you make this up or where did you find it?) is PERFECT to connect with us all!!!! I LOVE THIS STUFF, the stuff that speaks to our humanity, our spiritual beings, our weaknesses and our strengths. Oh how I want to remember this and teach it. I think that as I age, I am finally learning this, and believe it or not, and maybe the correlation isn't significant, but I truly believe that the SHARPENING process comes by way of difficulty or rather challenges but ALSO by every attempt that we make to try something new. It will not be good the first several or first MANY times, but only through hard work will we accomplish anything. We will leave our mark. This was so wonderful and perfect for me now. I am writing and as I do, I feel myself struggle, but it is only in stretching that we grow. I am also trying to teach myself watercolouring, with the help of dear blogging friends via email! I have the ability. I see it. But it will take an agility of the hand and eye for me to capture the look I seek. Oh this was a rich and wonderful post my friend.....keep painting!!

HAPPY TUESDAY, Anita

I have missed you ever so much. I seem to always be covered in paint from my elbows to my fingertips...and although LIFE is busy, I am content and finally warm now that summer has now arrived. Hope this note finds you HAPPY and well, enjoying warm sunny days.

May we remember to always look up and be thankful for the blessings He showers down upon us.
